College and COVID-19

As college students continue adapting to the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19, life has dramatically changed. From hybrid classes to social distancing measures, what once felt unusual has now become routine. However, it remains essential to stay resilient and hopeful as we anticipate improvements in the coming months. COVID-19, commonly known as Coronavirus, affects individuals differently, ranging from mild symptoms like fever and coughing to more severe issues such as difficulty breathing and loss of taste. For more comprehensive information, I encourage visiting the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website.

The global pandemic has significantly altered the college experience. Traditional activities like attending sports games, dining with friends, and weekend outings have largely diminished. While I am grateful for the safety of my home during these uncertain times, I deeply miss the community spirit that makes Assumption University special.

The pandemic has been an opportunity for personal growth, prompting me to focus on networking, pursuing passions, and managing priorities effectively. Engaging in activities such as writing a blog and conducting inspiring interviews has helped maintain my motivation. Networking platforms like LinkedIn have been invaluable, offering access to internships, jobs, and opportunities for professional growth.

Assumption University has implemented rigorous safety measures to protect students. Among these precautions, students are required to undergo COVID testing twice a week. If someone tests positive, the university has protocols in place to ensure appropriate care and isolation. Additionally, the university imposes strict penalties on gatherings that disregard mask-wearing and social distancing rules. A first offense results in the loss of on-campus and residence hall privileges without a refund for room and board. Continued violations may lead to suspension from the university. Though some may view these measures as severe, it is crucial to understand the serious health risks this virus poses to individuals and the broader community. Academically, COVID-19 has accelerated the pace of learning, splitting the semester into two intense sessions. This rapid schedule has compelled me to refine my time management skills, teaching me to value every moment. Reflecting on my earlier experiences with online classes, I realized the importance of adapting quickly and efficiently. By reorganizing my approach, I have significantly improved my academic performance in the current online learning environment.

LinkedIn Premium, specifically, provides additional insights into job and internship competitiveness. Though uncertainty about the future remains, I have learned to take life step by step. As I continue my junior year studies, I acknowledge that my senior year may still be affected by COVID-19. Nevertheless, I remain confident that my peers and I will overcome these challenges together.
