Spring Break on a Budget

When it comes time for Spring Break, there are several things to consider, from where you want to travel to what you can afford. With things being fast-paced in college, college students should plan before Spring Break happens. Students need to focus on what is important to them, and where are their friends going. According to travel sites, Kayak cities like Denver and Myrtle Beach are two places that are more accommodating when you are planning a trip on a budget.

If you enjoy skiing and mini golf, head to Denver for Mule Majors, a mini golf competition featuring Moscow Mules at each of its nine holes. For warmer weather, consider Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Known for its endless events, walkable attractions, and 60-mile Grand Strand beach near Apache Pier, Myrtle Beach also offers vibrant nightlife spots like Señor Frogs, House of Blues, and Malibu’s Surf Bar. If you are not from around these areas, Señor Frog is a chain of festive cantinas with a menu of Mexica food and frozen cocktails. The House of Blues is a rock of blues-themed chain with Southern dishes and live music.

My Plans

I’m staying local this Spring Break, and for students around Worcester, here are a few suggestions. If you’re interested in history, visit the Worcester Historical Museum, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, with a $4 admission for students with ID. For those wanting to unwind, check out Wormtown Brewery to enjoy local beer or take a brewery tour. They’re closed Monday, open until 9 pm Tuesday–Thursday, 10 pm on Friday–Saturday, and 7 pm Sunday, with tours offered on weekends at 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, and 2:30 pm. If neither museums nor breweries appeal to you, explore your creativity at Clayground, where items range from $14 to $40, and students receive a 20% discount with proof of enrollment.
